〔體育中心／綜合報導〕美國期中選舉開票作業仍持續進行中，但執政的共和黨選舉結果慘敗，民主黨奪回國會參、眾兩院的控制權。不過，前洋基名將、代表共和黨參選的「鐵爺」提謝拉（Mark Teixeira），今天擊敗民主黨候選人胡克（Kristin Hook），讓這位前大聯盟強打當選德州第21選區聯邦眾議員。
提謝拉今天在社群媒體X上表示，「我們可以攜手為家庭、鄰居，以及德州第21選區的每個社區，打造更美好的未來。我很期待投入工作。我會為各位，以及這個偉大國家的未來祈禱。願上帝保佑德州，也保佑美國。」

現年46歲的提謝拉曾在大聯盟待過遊騎兵、勇士、天使、洋基等球隊，生涯在大聯盟14年共出賽1862場，累積409轟、1298分打點，平均打擊率0.268，曾在2009年洋基時期奪得美聯全壘打王和打點王，三度入選明星賽，也是五屆美聯一壘金手套得主。
提謝拉自2021年從棒球界退休後，與家人搬回德州定居，他曾曾承諾將與美國總統川普（Donald Trump）合作，致力於確保邊境安全。
